How to get the old "Oof" sound back in Roblox

As many players have discovered, the beloved “oof” sound effect has been removed from the Roblox platform and replaced with a new, less beloved one. After this change, you might be wondering: is there a way to get the old “oof” sound back? Well, technically there is! To learn more about why “oof” was removed and how you can add it back to Roblox, keep reading below.

Everything we know about “phew”

How to add “oof”?

Before we get started, it’s important to mention that following these steps and completing this tutorial will not add the “oof” sound for everyone on Roblox – it just adds the sound back to your individual Roblox app. This means that at the end of these steps, only you, and anyone else who follows them, will have access to the “oof” sound again.

Once you understand this limitation, download the original “oof” sound and move it from your downloads folder to your desktop. This will make it easier to use later.

Why was “oof” removed?

In short, the “oof” sound was removed and replaced due to licensing issues. On July 26, 2022, Roblox tweeted that the removal came after a slew of these issues were brought to the company’s attention, and to combat these issues, the sound needed to be removed and replaced with a new version owned by Roblox. For a more in-depth look at why “oof” was removed, check out our full article.

Will Roblox ever bring back “oof”?

Unfortunately, the answer to this question is probably no, Roblox will never bring the “oof” sound back platform-wide. Instead, players wanting this sound can follow the steps above to add it individually to their Roblox app, and developers will need to purchase a Roblox sound effects bundle from original “oof” creator Tommy Tallarico.
